Quantic Dream president, writer, and director David Cage commented on the achievement:

“More than seven years after its release, Detroit: Become Human continues to resonate with audiences, bringing always more players together around the world. What began as a reflection on choice, empathy, and humanity has become a shared journey for tens of millions of players.”

Guillaume de Fondaumiere, Quantic Dream CEO and head of publishing, added:

“This new milestone highlights the emotional resonance and lasting cultural impact of Detroit: Become Human.”

He suggested the game’s continued success across platforms, generations, and continents underscores the strength of stories that invite players to reflect, question, and engage with the material long after completing the experience.

The game also received a significant boost towards its latest sales milestone when it became the 2nd best-selling game in the most recent Steam Winter Sale, where it was available with a 90% discount.

Set in Detroit in the year 2038, the game explores a world where technology has advanced to the point that human-like androids are commonplace.

These machines speak, move, and behave like humans but operate solely as servants. Players take control of three android protagonists who find themselves at the brink of chaos and question the meaning of humanity.

The gameplay is defined by an ambitious branching narrative where a player’s choices not only determine the fate of the three main characters but also the future of the entire city.

With thousands of possible choices and dozens of potential endings, the narrative is designed so that every decision impacts the story’s conclusion, ensuring that no two playthroughs are exactly the same.

The title features a cast of world-renowned actors, including Jesse Williams, Clancy Brown, Lance Henriksen, Bryan Dechart, and Valorie Curry.
