Popular Gundam SEED model kit to get a re-release after it wins fan vote

The “RG 1/144 Destiny Impulse” Gunpla model kit is officially making its comeback.
Following its overwhelming victory in the “Premium Bandai Gunpla General Election 2024” fan vote, BANDAI SPIRITS has now started accepting pre-orders for a re-release of the model kit.

The Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY MSV (Mobile Suit Variations) sub-series expands upon the universe of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY, introducing alternative Mobile Suit designs and storylines that didn’t appear on screen in the established continuity.
The “Destiny Impulse” is a popular design from this spin-off, combining elements of the powerful Destiny Gundam with the versatile Impulse Gundam, creating a unique and visually striking Mobile Suit.

Gunpla, or “Gundam plastic model,” kits are a cornerstone of the Gundam franchise.
The “Real Grade (RG)” line, introduced in 2010, is particularly known for its accurate scale depictions of mobile suits that feature intricate internal frames, exceptional articulation, and a high level of detail often comparable to Master Grade kits.

The “Premium Bandai Gunpla General Election 2024” was an event that allowed fans to vote for previously released Premium Bandai exclusive kits they wished to see re-released.

The “RG 1/144 Destiny Impulse” won the 2024 vote by quite a large margin.
The re-release comes during a period where Premuim Bandai and BANDAI SPIRITS are re-releasing a number of model kits based on older Gundam series, such as Gundam Wing and the Advance of Z side-story.
The “RG 1/144 Destiny Impulse” model kit is a well-regarded example of the RG line due the level of detail with which it reproduces the Gundam.

The unit’s signature reddish-purple and white base colors are accurately replicated, ensuring a vibrant and show-accurate appearance without the need to paint the model.
It also includes accurate weapons and accessories such as the “Destiny Silhouette” backpack and the “Flash Edge Beam Boomerangs”.

The pair of left and right beam cannons, known as the “Telescopic Barrel Extension Beam Turret” can be dynamically posed by unfolding the backpack arms.
In addition, the RG version includes the option for these cannons to be detached and held in both hands.

The “Excalibur Laser Anti-Ship Sword” can also be mounted on the backpack, with a flexibly movable mounting base for dynamic presentation.
A water transfer decal sheet is included, allowing builders to apply markings to precisely recreate the Destiny Impulse’s appearance.
The kit is designed to be compatible with the separately sold “Wing of Light Effect Parts (for RG 1/144 Destiny Gundam),” enabling builders to enhance their display with the iconic energy wings, further elevating its visual impact.

Priced at 5,060 yen (approx. $35.29 USD / £26.12 GBP), the re-release of the “RG 1/144 Destiny Impulse” provides a valuable opportunity for collectors who missed its initial run to add this highly sought-after Gunpla model kit to their collection

Pre-orders are being handled exclusively on the Premium Bandai online store and are expected to begin shipping to customers in August 2025.

Built this kit a year or so ago and can confirm it’s pretty fantastic. Too bad it doesn’t include the wings of light and they don’t put them up nearly as often as they should though. (For me they always seem to put them up when there aren’t any other kits I want and I don’t want to pay $10 shipping for a tiny little kit.)
