Pikmin 4 is getting a major free update with a new type of Pikmin, a photo mode and difficulty settings

A new, free update is landing for Pikmin 4 on the Nintendo Switch this November, which will introduce a variety of new content for both new and returning players.
The update is headlined by the arrival of “Decor Pikmin,” who were originally seen in the Pikmin Bloom smart-device app.

As their name implies, these are unique Pikmin that wear various decorations they’ve found in the world, such as doughnuts, wind-up toys, and snow hats.

In a new cross-platform bonus, Decor Pikmin gathered in this Pikmin 4 update can also be transferred to your squad in Pikmin Bloom.

The update also adds a new “Field Camera.”

This feature will allow players to take stylish photos of their character and squad, complete with various angles, filters, frames, and stamps.

For players looking to customize their challenge, two new difficulty levels are being added.
“Relaxed mode” is a new, easier setting where creatures will not attack the player unless they are attacked first.
For veteran players, “Fierce mode” will be added to kick things up a notch. These modes can be selected when starting a new game or changed at any time from the settings menu.

This new Pikmin 4 update is part of a larger celebration of the franchise.
It was also announced that Pikmin Bloom will be celebrating its fourth anniversary by adding Ice Pikmin, which were first discovered in Pikmin 4.
A new short animation from Nintendo Pictures, titled “Close to You,” has also recently been released on Nintendo’s social channels.
Pikmin 4 is currently available for the Nintendo Switch and is playable on the Nintendo Switch 2.
