Parasite Mutant Demo Gives Players First Taste of Spiritual Successor to Parasite Eve

Developer IceSitruuna has released a free demo for its anticipated science-fiction horror RPG, Parasite Mutant, available now for PC via Steam.
The demo’s launch was initially scheduled for early December 2025 but was postponed to “January 6, 2026, at 5:00 PM PST”.

This delay was a strategic decision by the team to avoid the Steam Winter Sale, ensuring the project was not competing for exposure on the platform against a large number of discounted titles.
Parasite Mutant is a JRPG horror survival title that serves as a spiritual successor to the 1998 cult classic, Parasite Eve.

The story centers on Psionic Agent Nova, who is sent on a mission to investigate an abandoned and secluded island city that has been overrun by horrifying creatures.
Her objective is to uncover the sinister conspiracy at the heart of the island’s nightmare, an event that will ultimately change her fate.

The demo is estimated to take about 45 minutes to complete and provides players with a key look at the game’s mechanics.
It includes a full tutorial designed to introduce players to the core gameplay, specifically the Active Time Chains (ATC) combat system.

This system combines the popular Active Time Battle framework from late-90s RPGs with a three-segment chain system that requires players to time their actions carefully.
The demo also contains the prologue, which features a small amount of early story content, and an explorable area that covers approximately five to seven percent of the full game’s total scope.

The game is developed using a semi-realistic anime art style with modern rendering techniques to provide a high-definition visual experience.
IceSitruuna has also included optional retro and CRT filters to appeal to fans seeking a nostalgic, late-90s to early 2000s vibe.

The full release of Parasite Mutant is due to take place later in 2026 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GoG.
