Orders re-open for sold out Gundam SEED FREEDOM model kit
Following strong initial demand, BANDAI SPIRITS has announced a second round of pre-orders for a popular new Gunpla kit.
There has been high demand for “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM” merchandise, particularly kits related to the film’s climactic battles.
Due to this, the first pre-order window for the “HG Destiny Gundam Spec II [Final Battle Image Color]” model kit quickly sold out, which prompted has prompted a second release.
“Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM”, released in early 2024, is the latest film installment in the popular “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED” universe, which originally began in 2002.
The SEED series is known for its dramatic storylines, intricate character relationships, and highly stylized mobile suit designs, distinguishing itself within the broader Gundam franchise.
“SEED FREEDOM” picks up one year after the Second Alliance-PLANT War, with the world still grappling with the aftermath and new threats emerging.
The film has been a significant commercial success for the Gundam franchise, achieving record box office numbers and receiving generally positive reviews for its action sequences and continuation of beloved characters’ arcs.
The Destiny Gundam, originally piloted by Shinn Asuka in “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny”, receives a powerful upgrade to the “Spec II” in “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM”.
This new iteration plays a crucial role in the film’s climactic final battle, showcasing enhanced capabilities and a striking visual presence.
This particular “Final Battle Image Color” version of the HG 1/144 Destiny Gundam Spec II is designed to faithfully recreate the mobile suit’s appearance during its intense final confrontation in the movie.
The HG (High Grade) line of Gunpla kits offers a balanced approach to producing kits that are both affordable and easy to assemble.
A key visual feature from the film’s climax is the “red glow” emanating from the mobile suit’s joints, symbolizing its activation at peak performance.
BANDAI SPIRITS has replicated this effect through specialized molding colors in the kit’s plastic, providing a dynamic and accurate representation directly out of the box.
A significant addition to this version of the kit is the inclusion of the “Type 35 Modified Prototype Railgun”.
This weapon is crucial to the Destiny Gundam Spec II’s arsenal in “SEED FREEDOM,” especially against the formidable defenses of the Black Knight Squad’s mobile suits, which are resistant to beam weaponry.
The Type 35 Railgun is a high-powered, handheld physical projectile weapon, and its inclusion allows builders to pose the Destiny Gundam Spec II recreating iconic scenes from the movie’s explosive final act.
Fans of Gunpla and “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM” can now secure their kits as part of this new pre-order window exclusively via Premium Bandai.
It is priced at 2,970 yen (approx. $20.46 USD / £15.04 GBP) and orders placed during this second wave of pre-orders are scheduled for shipment in November 2025.
