A new trailer and key visual for the upcoming anime film The Irregular at Magic High School THE MOVIE Yotsuba Succession Arc were released during a stage event at AnimeJapan on March 29, 2026.
The promotional materials offer a fresh look at the movie before its scheduled premiere in Japanese theaters on May 8, 2026.
The new trailer features the film’s theme song, titled YES, performed by the artist LiSA.
LiSA is a recurring contributor to the franchise, having previously provided the opening theme songs for both the first and third seasons of the television series.
Fans will have an early opportunity to see the film during a premiere screening at Shinjuku Wald 9 in Tokyo on April 28, 2026.
This special screening will include appearances by lead voice actress Saori Hayami and director Jimmy Stone.
Jimmy Stone, who previously directed the third season of the anime, is helming the film at studio eightbit.
Taku Iwasaki is returning to the project as the music composer to provide the film’s score.
The movie is based on the light novel series written by Tsutomu Sato and illustrated by Kana Ishida, which is published in Japan by ASCII Media Works under the Dengeki Bunko label.
English speaking audiences can access the source material through Yen Press, while Crunchyroll provides a streaming version of the animated series.
The story is set in a world where magic is harnessed through Casting Assistant Devices that utilize the user’s thought particles known as Psions.
