New Pokémon theme park, “PokéPark KANTO”, opens in Japan in Spring 2026

The official name and details for the world’s first permanent Pokémon theme park were announced during a “Pokémon Presents” broadcast held on Tuesday, the 22nd of July, 2025.
“PokéPark KANTO” will be located within a section of the grounds of the Yomiuriland amusement park.

Yomiuriland is a large and long-standing amusement park located in the Tama Hills area of Tokyo.
“PokéPark KANTO” is described as a “Trainers’ Area” where visitors can immerse themselves in the experience of living and exploring alongside Pokémon.

This new, permanent attraction is an evolution of the temporary “PokéPark” amusement parks that were held in Japan and Taiwan in the mid-2000s.

The park will be divided into two main zones: the nature-focused “Pokémon Forest” and the bustling “Kayatsuri Town.”

The Pokémon Forest is an expansive, natural environment with a path that runs approximately 500 meters long.

It is designed with varied terrain, including grassy fields, tunnels, and mountain paths, to create a realistic habitat for the more than 600 Pokémon that are said to live there.

Visitors will be able to observe Pokémon from the Kanto region engaging in natural behaviors like running, battling, and sharing berries.

The area is designed to create a sense of discovery, with large Pokémon visible from afar and smaller ones hiding in the environment.

The second zone, Kayatsuri Town, is a vibrant hub where trainers and Pokémon gather, and this area will be home to a variety of shops and attractions.

Facilities will include a “Pokémon Trainers’ Market” for merchandise, an official Pokémon Center, and a “Friendri-Shop.”
The town will also feature a Pokémon Gym, areas for character greetings and parades, and two ride-style attractions.

A large fountain featuring the Pokémon Primarina will serve as a central welcome point for the town.
In preparation for its opening, the park has begun recruiting for various staff positions.
Ticket sales for the new park are scheduled to begin in Fall 2025, with “PokéPark KANTO” currently being scheduled for its grand opening in the Spring 2026.
