New Dragon Ball Ichiban Kuji prize lottery celebrates the series 40th anniversary

The celebration of Dragon Ball’s 40th anniversary continues with the announcement of the second part of its special commemorative lottery.

The “Ichiban Kuji DRAGON BALL 40th ~Part 2~” follows the successful first installment of this series.

Dragon Ball is currently in the midst of a massive 40th-anniversary year, commemorating the date the manga first began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1984.

This new lottery focuses on recreating famous scenes from the latter half of the original manga, using a unique combination of high-quality figures and background manga panels.

  • Prize A: 40th Anniversary Figure ~Son Goku~

This figure captures the climax of the battle against Majin Buu.

It stands approximately 18 centimeters tall and features a background panel scattered with impressive scenes from Goku’s childhood to look back on his history.

Standing 17 centimeters tall, this figure depicts Vegeta challenging Majin Buu with desperate resolve.

It features effect parts and speech bubble panels to recreate the intensity of the manga.

This prize captures the moment Gohan awakens from his anger toward Cell.

The 15-centimeter figure thoroughly reproduces the dramatic scene with added effect parts and physical onomatopoeia (sound effect) text.

Piccolo is featured here after fusing with Kami to challenge Cell.

The 16-centimeter figure highlights the dynamic flow of his cape and features a composition that integrates the figure with the manga panels behind him.

This figure showcases Krillin unleashing his signature Destructo Disc (Kienzan) to defeat Nappa.

It features a unique gimmick where the background panel appears to be sliced by the attack.

Awarded to the person who buys the last ticket, this figure depicts Shenron from the scene where the Pilaf Gang attempts to make a wish.

It stands 20 centimeters tall and includes panels showcasing the various wishes granted by the dragon throughout the series.

This new lottery is one of many ways that Dragon Ball is being celebrated in the series’ 40th anniversary year.

Fans worldwide are currently voting in the “DRAGON BALL THE ONE” character poll, which features 212 candidates battling for the top spot.

Additionally, the world’s first permanent “DRAGON BALL STORE” in Tokyo recently opened its doors on November 14, offering exclusive merchandise to fans.

The “Ichiban Kuji DRAGON BALL 40th ~Part 2~” is priced at 800 yen (approx. $5.19 USD / £4.11 GBP) per play.

It is scheduled to be released at convenience stores, bookstores, and hobby shops across Japan starting Saturday, December 27, 2025.
