New Dragon Ball Game “AGE 1000” to Feature Original Characters by Akira Toriyama

The Dragon Ball franchise is expanding its gaming universe with the announcement of a mysterious new project featuring involvement from the original creator.
Bandai Namco Entertainment revealed Dragon Ball Project: AGE 1000 during the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri fan event held on 25 January.

The reveal served as a major highlight of the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri event, which saw several other significant announcements celebrating the franchise’s 40th anniversary.

Earlier in the day, it was confirmed that the series will return to television with Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol, a new anime adapting the Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc from the manga.

Attendees were also treated to the world premiere of a 40th-anniversary special video, which utilized advanced animation technology to bring Toriyama’s classic illustrations to life, accompanied by a new musical score from Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer.

This new game project is currently scheduled to launch towards 2027 and features a never-before-seen world and characters created by Akira Toriyama.

The project is set in a new era known as “AGE 1000” and will showcase original character designs by Toriyama that have not been seen previously.

A project announcement video has been released alongside the reveal, offering fans a first glimpse at these original characters and hinting at the future developments of the series.

While specific gameplay details remain under wraps, the company has confirmed that further information regarding the project is scheduled to be announced at Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026.

This upcoming event, which marks the sixth iteration of the convention, is designed to allow fans to experience the latest information and charm of Dragon Ball across manga, anime, movies, games, and figures.

The event will be held in Los Angeles at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall, with admission being free for all attendees.
It is scheduled to take place over two days, starting on Sunday, April 19, 2026, and concluding on Monday, April 20, 2026 (Japan Time).

In addition to the new AGE 1000 project, the event will feature special stages revealing the latest Dragon Ball information, as well as tournaments for Dragon Ball FighterZ and various card games, including Dragon Ball Super Card Game Fusion World.
