NetEase Announces Alpha Test for Sea of Remnants

Publisher NetEase Games and developer Joker Studio have officially announced the upcoming “Wanderer” alpha test for their highly anticipated free-to-play oceanic adventure RPG, Sea of Remnants.
The small-scale Closed Alpha is scheduled to run from February 5 to February 12 and will be exclusively available for PC players via Steam, offering support for both English and Japanese languages.

The announcement comes alongside the release of a brand-new gameplay trailer, which provides an extensive look at life as a pirate in the game’s vibrant world.
The footage highlights crucial gameplay elements, including open-world exploration, dynamic sea monster battles, and a variety of mini-games players can find within the majestic pirate city of Orbtopia.

Prospective players eager to get an early look at the game can now apply for the test.
Sign-ups opened on January 7, 2026, and will close on January 23 at 12:59 JST.

Spaces for the “Wanderer Test” are extremely limited, and eligible players will be notified if they are selected to receive access.
Application questionnaires are available through dedicated forms on the game’s official Discord channel, Steam page, and Reddit page.

In Sea of Remnants, players step into the role of a puppetfolk sailor who is adrift and suffering from amnesia.
They must navigate perilous waters, battle peculiar monsters, customize their own fleet, and forge alliances with over 300 potential companions.

Player choices are crucial as they work to shape the ever-evolving pirate metropolis of Orbtopia.
The gameplay experience focuses heavily on adventure and customization.

Core features include setting sail to explore every island on the horizon in a vast open world and returning with treasures to Orbtopia.
Players must also recruit powerful allies from rival factions to build a capable crew for their grand ocean adventures.

Naval combat is central, requiring players to command a fully armed warship to challenge savage creatures, such as cannon-wielding gorillas and treasure-laden giant crabs.
Beyond the high seas, exploration extends to islands and settlements, where players can engage in various activities like mahjong, thrilling duels, or encountering unexpected mischief.

The game is slated for a full release across multiple platforms in 2026, including PlayStation 5, PC via Steam, iOS, and Android.
