NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD anime officially announced for April 2026
A TV anime adaptation has been officially announced for a hit indie game about a young woman’s chaotic life as an internet streamer.
The new anime will be based on WSS playground’s NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD (known as Needy Girl Overdose in Japan).
It is scheduled to begin broadcasting in April 2026, with animation production handled by Yostar Pictures.
NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD is a multi-ending adventure game released on Steam in January 2022.
It follows a girl with a strong desire for approval and her producer “P-chan” over 30 days as she tries to become the “strongest internet streamer.”
The game has been a massive success, selling over 3 million copies, and its related music has surpassed 400 million plays.
The anime will see the “Internet Angel,” KAngel, make her official TV debut.
The animation studio, Yostar Pictures, is known for its work on the Arknights and Blue Archive anime.
The project will be directed by Masayuki Nakajima, who also directed the original NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD short anime, with the game’s original creator, Nyalra, handling the scenario and supervision.
The anime’s production has not been without issue, as Nyalra issued a statement shortly after its official announcement, stating that despite having contributed to the production, they would not be able to take part in any promotional activities due to an ongoing dispute with Why So Serious, Inc., who holds the rights to the series.
Despite the dispute, Nyalra has expressed thanks to the staff at Yostar Pictures and the other creators involved from the beginning, and stated that they hope fans will watch and enjoy the anime.
To celebrate the announcement, the first key visual and the first promotional video for the anime have been released.
A “Theatrical Advance Version” is scheduled to screen in Japan at the Theatre Shinjuku and Theatre Umeda before the TV broadcast.
This will be a special compilation of the first TV episodes.
In celebration of the anime news, the original NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD game is currently on sale for 50% off on Steam and Nintendo Switch until November 23.
Other spin-off titles, like NEEDY GIRL OVERDOSE Typing of the Net, are also on sale.
