My Hero Academia Announces New Electric Callboy 10th Anniversary Collaboration
One of My Hero Academia’s most recognizable pieces of music is getting a new English vocal version for the anime’s 10th anniversary, with Electric Callboy joining composer Yuki Hayashi for a special release of “You Say Run”.
Titled “You Say Run -10th Anniversary ver.-,” the new recording features vocals from Kevin Ratajczak and Nico Sallach of the German electronicore band, adding English lyrics to a track that was originally created as part of the anime’s instrumental score.
My Hero Academia’s television anime began airing in April 2016 and went on to span eight seasons, following Izuku Midoriya as he develops from a Quirkless student into a professional hero while training alongside his classmates at U.A. High School.
Yuki Hayashi composed “You Say Run” for the anime’s first season, with the track becoming closely associated with some of Deku’s biggest battles and turning points throughout the series.
It has continued to feature throughout My Hero Academia’s eight television seasons and four theatrical movies, becoming one of the pieces of music most strongly associated with the anime.
The idea for the new version came from Hayashi, who had previously wondered what “You Say Run” would sound like if lyrics were added to the original composition.
With the anime celebrating its 10th anniversary and reaching fans around the world, Hayashi and the My Hero Academia music team decided that the new version should use English lyrics and began looking for an international artist capable of handling both powerful shouted vocals and more melodic sections.
Their search eventually led to Electric Callboy, whose mix of electronic music, metal and twin vocals was considered a strong match for both the track and the wider atmosphere of My Hero Academia.
Kevin Ratajczak and Nico Sallach provide the vocals for the finished recording, while Yuki Hayashi remains responsible for its composition and arrangement and cAnON. wrote the English lyrics.
The collaboration was first announced during the September 20 London performance of “My Hero Academia IN Concert,” the international orchestral tour that has been bringing Hayashi’s soundtrack together with scenes from the anime throughout 2026.
The tour has already traveled through Japan and the US before beginning its European dates, giving the 10th anniversary celebrations a major international music-focused event of their own.
A new digital cover has also been created for “You Say Run -10th Anniversary ver.-” by BONES FILM, showing Deku preparing to unleash a powerful “SMASH”.
The artwork directly references the cover of the anime’s original Season 1 soundtrack, creating a visual connection between the track’s first release and its new anniversary version a decade later.
The song joins a growing list of projects celebrating ten years of the My Hero Academia anime, which also includes the “OUR HERO” anniversary exhibition opening in Tokyo in January 2027 before moving to Osaka in March.
The franchise has also continued its anniversary celebrations through new animation, merchandise and live events, including the worldwide “My Hero Academia IN Concert” tour that will continue through Fall 2026.
“You Say Run -10th Anniversary ver.-” by Yuki Hayashi feat. Electric Callboy will be released through major streaming and download platforms from 12:00 AM JST on September 22, 2026.
