Monster Hunter Wilds x Street Fighter 6 collab lets you play as Akuma and transform your Palico into “Blanka-chan”

Capcom has revealed an exciting new collaboration event between its Monster Hunter and Street Fighter series.
The crossover will bring iconic characters from the Street Fighter universe into the world of Monster Hunter Wilds.

Monster Hunter Wilds is the latest installment in Capcom’s globally successful Monster Hunter series, known for its expansive ecosystems and challenging monster hunts.
Street Fighter 6, released in 2023, revitalized the iconic fighting game franchise with its innovative “Drive System” and earned widespread praise for its gameplay and accessibility.

The collaboration will introduce unique cosmetic and gameplay elements inspired by Street Fighter 6.
Hunters in Monster Hunter Wilds will be able to acquire a full armor set that transforms their character into the formidable martial artist, Akuma, a long-standing antagonist and fan-favorite character in the Street Fighter series.

The event will also see Palicoes, the feline companions of hunters, be equipped with an adorable armor set that turns them into “Blanka-chan”.
“Blanka-chan” is a popular plush version of the fighter Blanka that first appeared in Street Fighter V.

To obtain the production materials for these unique armor sets, players will need to participate in a new arena quest.
Access to this quest is tied to progressing through the special side missions that allow players to experience a storyline focusing on Akuma.

To begin these side missions, hunters must have reached Hunter Rank (HR) 21 or higher and can initiate the quest by speaking with Quinn, the Vespae Unit handler, at the Oilwell Basin Base Camp.

Beyond the transformative armor, this special collaboration will also grant players access to exclusive in-game rewards, including new backgrounds, poses, nameplates, and titles that can be customized within their hunter profiles, allowing for further personalization and display of their participation in the event.

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of this crossover for many fans is the integration of Akuma’s signature fighting techniques into Monster Hunter Wilds.
By equipping the full Akuma armor set or utilizing it as layered armor, hunters will gain access to Akuma-exclusive actions, items, and gestures.

These special abilities can be selected from the item slider, enabling players to execute iconic Street Fighter moves within Monster Hunter Wilds.

For instance, players can unleash various combo attacks derived from “Assisted Combo: Akuma”, perform the powerful projectile “Gou Hadoken,” or unleash the devastating “Gou Shoryuken”.

Even Akuma’s “Drive Impact” from Street Fighter 6 has been adapted for use in the Monster Hunter combat system, promising a unique blend of gameplay styles.
The collaboration event is set to begin on May 28th, 2025.

On the same day, paid DLC featuring Chun-Li and Cammy costumes for the “Handler” Alma will also be available, allowing players to experience even more of Street Fighter 6 in Monster Hunter Wilds.
