Mega Malamar revealed for Pokémon LEGENDS Z-A
The full design for a brand-new Pokémon, Mega Malamar, has been officially revealed for the upcoming Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 title, Pokémon LEGENDS Z-A.
The new Pokémon was showcased in a video released on Wednesday, the 10th of September.
The reveal was made in a special, in-universe news broadcast-style video titled, “[Official] Malamar’s Popularity Explodes!? Lumiose News Now Broadcasting.”
Mega Malamar is a Mega Evolved form of the Pokémon Malamar, a unique Dark- and Psychic-type Pokémon that was first introduced in the Pokémon X and Y games.
Mega Evolution is a popular battle mechanic that allows certain Pokémon to temporarily achieve a more powerful form, and it has been confirmed to be a central feature of the new game.
Malamar is known as the “Overturning Pokémon” and is famous for its unique evolution method, which requires the player to physically turn their console upside down.
This new announcement confirms that the fan-favorite Pokémon will be receiving a new, powerful Mega Evolved form in the upcoming game.

This is the second new Mega Evolution to be revealed for the title, following the recent announcement of Mega Hawlucha.
Pokémon LEGENDS Z-A is scheduled to be released on Thursday, the 16th of October.
