Mario Tennis Fever announced for 2026 release on Nintendo Switch 2

The latest installment in the long-running Mario Tennis series, titled Mario Tennis Fever, has been officially announced.
The new game was revealed during a Nintendo Direct presentation that took place on the 12th of September.

This new entry in the series will feature the largest roster to date, with a total of 38 different playable characters.

A new, central gameplay mechanic has also been introduced, the “Fever Racket.”

By sustaining a rally, players can build up a gauge that allows them to unleash a powerful “Fever Shot.”
There are a total of 30 different “Fever Rackets” in the game, each with its own unique and dramatic special effect.

These include an “Ice Racket” that can freeze the court, a “Mini Mushroom Racket” that can shrink the opponent, and a “Shadow Racket” that creates a duplicate of your character.

The game will feature a wide variety of different modes.

These include a standard “Tournament” mode, a “Mission Tower” challenge mode, a “Swing Mode” for motion controls, and a full suite of online options with both casual “Room Matches” and competitive “Ranked Matches.”

One of the most significant new additions is a full “Story Mode.”

This new, single-player adventure features a unique premise where Mario and the other characters are turned into babies and must re-learn how to play tennis as they embark on an adventure to return to their normal selves.

The physical version of the game is priced at ¥8,980, while the digital version is priced at ¥7,980.
Mario Tennis Fever is scheduled to be released on Thursday, the 12th of February, 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2.
