MAPPA, studio behind 'Chainsaw Man' and 'Jujutsu Kaisen', to launch record label

One of Japan’s leading anime studios has revealed plans to open its own record label.

Animation studio MAPPA has announced the launch of “mappa records,” a new music label aimed at deepening the connection between its anime productions and their accompanying soundtracks.

Known for their work on hit series such as ‘Chainsaw Man’ and ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’, MAPPA has become one of the anime industry’s top studios.

Founded in 2011, MAPPA, which operates under the mission of “delivering anime that will stay in people’s hearts forever,” revealed the new initiative after 14 years of operation.

The studio continues to work on some of the top properties in anime, with the upcoming series Lazarus, by acclaimed director Shinichirō Watanabe, set to be co-produced by MAPPA and Sola Entertainment.

“mappa records” will serve as a collaborative space for composers and artists, focusing on creating music that more closely resonates with the unique worldviews presented in MAPPA’s diverse anime catalog. The studio aims to push the boundaries of “music x animation” synergy.

Beyond soundtrack production, MAPPA intends to expand the reach of its musical content through global digital distribution, physical releases on CD and LP formats, and live performance events.
