Like a Dragon 3 is getting the “Kiwami” treatment in a new remake

The next major installment in the “Kiwami Project,” a full remake of the 2009 classic Like a Dragon 3, has been officially announced.
The new title, Like a Dragon: Kiwami 3, was revealed earlier today, Wednesday, the 24th of September, during the “RGG SUMMIT 2025” presentation from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio.

The “Kiwami Project” is a popular series of from-the-ground-up remakes of the classic games from the long-running franchise, which are rebuilt in a modern engine with updated graphics and a variety of new content.
Like a Dragon 3 is a fan-favorite entry in the series, which sees the protagonist Kazuma Kiryu leave his life in Kamurocho behind to run the “Asagao” orphanage in the new setting of the Ryukyu Islands in Okinawa.

However, a dispute over the land on which the orphanage is built soon pulls him back into the world of crime and politics.

This new “Kiwami” version will be a full remake of that classic story, with powered-up graphics and a number of new elements that were not in the original release.
It has been confirmed that the remake will include new story episodes and new cast members.

While this is a full remake, it will not be sold separately.
It is being released as part of a single, two-in-one package with a brand-new, original side story, Like a Dragon 3 Gaiden: Dark Ties, which stars the antagonist Yoshitaka Mine.

Like a Dragon: Kiwami 3 / Like a Dragon 3 Gaiden: Dark Ties has been announced for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
The two-in-one game is scheduled to be released on Thursday, the 12th of February, 2026.
