Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII joins the new and upgraded “PLAY ARTS Shin” figure line

Square Enix is preparing to release a new action figure of Lightning, the protagonist of the iconic RPG Final Fantasy XIII.
The new Lightning figure will be part of the “PLAY ARTS Shin” line, which is a new, evolved version of the long-running “PLAY ARTS Kai” series.

This new line features a number of significant technical improvements, including new hip and joint parts that remove the “click” sound of previous figures, allowing for a much smoother and wider range of motion.

A brand-new gimmick has also been introduced: the figure’s eyeballs are now movable, which allows for a much greater range of expression and a wider variety of poses.

This new figure is a faithful, 1/7 scale recreation of Lightning’s appearance as a former sergeant in the Cocoon Guardian Corps.

The sculpt features a high level of detail, from her iconic pink hair and strong facial features to the intricate textures of her clothing, boots, and shoulder armor.

The figure also comes with a real, fabric cape that has a built-in wire, allowing it to be bent and shaped for dynamic, windswept poses.

A comprehensive set of accessories is included, such as her signature “Blazefire Saber” (Blaze Edge), which is provided in both its gun and sword forms.

The set also comes with an alternate, interchangeable face (which also has the new, movable eyeball gimmick) and a variety of different hand parts for holding the weapons.

The “Final Fantasy XIII – PLAY ARTS Shin – Lightning” is priced at ¥26,400 (approx. $178 USD / £142 GBP).

The figure is scheduled to be released on Saturday, the 25th of October, 2025, and will be available from the Square Enix online store and a range of other hobby goods retailers.
