Life-Size Freedom Gundam Statue’s Official RG Gunpla Kit Gets US Re-Release This September

The Shanghai-inspired Freedom Gundam is making another appearance through Premium Bandai US, with pre-orders now open for the RG 1/144 The Gundam Base Limited ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam Ver.GCP.

This Gundam Base Limited release is modeled after the life-size Freedom Gundam statue installed at Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Shanghai Jinqiao in China, adapting the monument’s proportions, detailing, and distinctive presentation into a 1/144 scale Real Grade kit.

Rather than simply changing the colors of the standard RG Freedom Gundam, the Ver.GCP incorporates newly molded and revised exterior parts across areas including the head, arms, hands, and legs to more closely reproduce the appearance of the Shanghai statue.

Open hand parts are included so the completed model can recreate the statue’s characteristic standing pose, while the expansive wing units give the kit an immediately recognizable silhouette whether displayed in a neutral position or opened for action scenes.

The detailed exterior also makes good use of the Real Grade format, with extensive panel detailing and realistic marking stickers designed to reproduce smaller visual elements seen across the full-size Freedom Gundam.

Builders are not limited to recreating the statue itself, as the kit retains Freedom Gundam’s familiar combat equipment and can be posed in its Full Burst configuration with the wing-mounted weapons, railguns, and beam rifle deployed.

Its weapon selection includes a beam rifle, beam sabers, and shield, making the Ver.GCP equally suited to a statue-inspired display or the more dynamic aerial poses associated with Kira Yamato’s Freedom Gundam in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.

The RG 1/144 The Gundam Base Limited ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam Ver.GCP is available to pre-order from Premium Bandai US for $50, with orders scheduled to remain open until August 24, 2026 at 2:59 AM EDT and shipping planned for September 2026.
