Kotobukiya opens pre-orders for Pokémon XY Calem figure as Serena gets re-release
Kotobukiya has opened pre-orders for its new 1/8 scale figure, “ARTFX J Calem with Froakie,” while also announcing a reproduction of the previously released “ARTFX J Serena with Fennekin” figure.
These figures are based on characters from the video games Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, which were the first main series Pokémon titles released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2013, introducing the Kalos region.
Kotobukiya, a Japanese manufacturer of hobby products, is recognized for its detailed figures that often bring popular anime, manga, and video game characters to life.
The Calem figure, accompanied by Froakie, is sculpted based on a new illustration by Hitoshi Ariga, a designer frequently associated with the Pokémon series.
The figure captures Calem in a relaxed pose, pinching the brim of his hat.
Attention to detail is evident in the texture of his boots, the subtle patterns on his jacket, and the clear lenses of his sunglasses.
Froakie, the Water-type starter Pokémon, is also faithfully recreated, complete with the bubbles on its back.
The reproduction of the Serena with Fennekin figure allows fans to complete their collection, as it is also based on an illustration by Hitoshi Ariga.
This figure depicts Serena in a pose reminiscent of a runway walk, designed to complement the Calem figure when displayed together.
Both “ARTFX J Calem with Froakie” and “ARTFX J Serena with Fennekin” are priced at ¥15,400 each (including tax).
A special bonus illustration shikishi (colored paper board) by Hitoshi Ariga will be included with purchases of the Calem figure made through the Kotobukiya Shop.
Fans looking to pick up either figure are recommended to do so by August 5th, 2025, as orders placed before this date are guaranteed.
The Serena with Fennekin figure is scheduled for release in December 2025, whilst the Calem with Froakie figure is set for release in January 2026.
Orders can now be placed directly via the Kotobukiya online store – due to licensing restrictions, these figures will only be available in Japan.
They may be available to purchased from third party hobby goods retailers who operate on a grey import basis, or alternatively fans can use a proxy shipping service to acquire a Japanese address for delivery before arranging shipment to their home country.
