Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME officially launches worldwide
The new “Giant Killing RPG,” Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME, has officially launched worldwide for iOS and Android devices.
The release of the highly anticipated new game from Akatsuki Games, TOHO, and Production I.G. took place on Sunday, the 31st of August, 2025.
The game is a free-to-play RPG with in-app purchases, which aims to recreate the world of the hit anime and manga series with high-end 3D graphics and a fully-voiced, original story.
The gameplay is a turn-based command battle system for a team of four, which features a unique “core exposure” mechanic that allows for powerful combo attacks.
The game also features three different story modes: a main story with an original plot, a “Recollection” story that allows players to re-experience famous scenes from the original, and individual character stories.
To celebrate the launch, a new, top-tier character has also been made available.
The 5-star character “[Adaptable] Reno Ichikawa,” who is depicted wearing the “Numbers 6” Kaiju weapon, has been added to the game.
This release is timed to coincide with his appearance in the 19th episode of the anime series.
The game’s pre-registration campaign was a massive success, with the final total surpassing 1.6 million sign-ups.
As a result, all players who start the game will receive a huge set of rewards to begin their journey.
The full list of pre-registration rewards includes:
- A ticket to choose one free 5-star character of your choice
- 20 “THE GAME” Gacha Tickets
- A 4-star “[Blade Specialist] Soshiro Hoshina” and a 4-star “[To Greater Heights] Mina Ashiro”
- 1,000 Dimension Crystals
- 100,000 Credits
Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME is now available on the App Store and Google Play.
A PC version for Steam is also planned for release at a later date.
