Kagurabachi reaches manga milestone and announces special events

Shueisha has announced a significant milestone for the popular manga series “Kagurabachi”, written by Takeru Hokazono.

With the upcoming release of its seventh volume on May 2nd, the series has so far surpassed a cumulative total of 2.2 million copies in circulation, including digital editions.

Kagurabachi Volume 7 will be released on the 2nd of May in Japan

This marks an impressive growth of 1.85 million copies in roughly one year, a staggering 6.28-fold increase from its 350,000 print count in July 2024.

This news comes as another Shonen Jump series, “Dandadan”, was revealed as having sold over 10 million copies of it’s manga in early April.

To commemorate the release of the latest volume of Kagurabachi, a special promotional campaign is underway.

Fifty-six unique posters, each visually representing one of the 56 chapters included in the first six collected volumes, have been created.

These eye-catching posters will be displayed on the streets of Tokyo’s Shibuya district for a limited time, starting from April 28th, at 1:00 PM JST.

“Kagurabachi” follows the journey of Chihiro, a young boy aspiring to become a swordsmith who embarks on a path of revenge against those who murdered his father.

The story begins with Chihiro’s daily life training under his skilled swordsmith father, a seemingly peaceful existence that is abruptly shattered by tragedy.

Fueled by hatred and bearing a bloodstained destiny, the young swordsman carries the flames of determination in his heart.

The series began its serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2023, marking Hokazono’s debut as a serializing manga artist.

Having already garnered significant recognition, including winning first place in the Comics division of the “Next Manga Award 2024” in August 2024, “Kagurabachi” has quickly become a prominent title in Jump’s lineup.

According to Shueisha, the series also achieved global success on their simultaneous multilingual manga app and web service, “MANGA Plus by SHUEISHA,” with the first chapter reaching the top spot in worldwide views.

The “Kagurabachi” anime will be produced by CygamesPictures and no release schedule has been revealed at this time.
