Gunpla enthusiasts have a new reason to celebrate following the release of new clear part versions of two of the most popular mobile suits from the series.

The “MG 1/100 ν Gundam Ver.Ka [Mechanical Clear]” and “MG 1/100 Sazabi Ver.Ka [Mechanical Clear]” model kits are now available to purchase – but only at a select few stores within Japan.

The Gundam franchise, created by Sunrise, is a seminal Japanese science fiction media franchise centered on giant robots (Mobile Suits).

Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack, released in 1988, is a pivotal animated film that serves as the climactic conclusion to the rivalry between Amuro Ray and Char Aznable, two of the franchise’s most enduring characters.

The film introduced the ν Gundam (Nu Gundam), Amuro Ray’s final personal Mobile Suit, and the Sazabi, Char Aznable’s formidable custom Mobile Suit.

Both designs are celebrated for their distinctive aesthetics, advanced capabilities and their significance in the Universal Century timeline, making them favorites among Gunpla builders.

The “Master Grade (MG)” Gunpla line is a mid-to-high-end series of model kits known for its detailed internal frames, excellent articulation, and fidelity to the original designs, typically at a 1/100 scale.

The “Ver.Ka” designation refers to kits designed by Hajime Katoki, a renowned mechanical designer celebrated for his sleek, realistic, and often more detailed interpretations of existing Gundam designs.

Katoki’s “Ver.Ka” kits are highly regarded for their intricate engineering and sharp aesthetics.

These newly released “Mechanical Clear” versions take these already impressive “Ver.Ka” kits to another level.

Almost the entire body, from the outer armor to the internal weapons and specialized components like the Fin Funnels of the Nu Gundam, are reproduced with transparent clear plastic parts.

This allows builders to showcase the internal mechanisms and intricate detailing that are often hidden beneath the standard colored armor.

The “MG 1/100 ν Gundam Ver.Ka [Mechanical Clear]” is priced at 7,700 yen (approx. $54.02 USD / £40.10 GBP), while the “MG 1/100 Sazabi Ver.Ka [Mechanical Clear]” is available for 9,900 yen (approx. $69.46 USD / £51.55 GBP).

Given the immense popularity of both the Nu Gundam and Sazabi, particularly their “Ver.Ka” renditions, and the unique appeal of clear parts editions, these kits are expected to be highly sought after by collectors and fans looking to add a distinctive piece to their Gunpla collection.

They are available for purchase exclusively at the following select Gundam Base stores across Japan:

  • Gundam Base Tokyo
