Japan’s Disney Shinkansen Returns to Celebrate Tokyo DisneySea’s 25th Anniversary
Central Japan Railway Company and Oriental Land have announced the launch of a special Tokaido Shinkansen train inspired by Tokyo DisneySea’s ongoing 25th anniversary celebrations.
Named the Sparkling Dreams Shinkansen, the themed train has been created to commemorate the Tokyo DisneySea 25th Anniversary Sparkling Jubilee event currently taking place at the resort.
A single N700A trainset will receive a complete decorative makeover reflecting the anniversary theme.
The exterior design will feature artwork showcasing Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and other Disney characters dressed in exclusive 25th anniversary costumes against backgrounds representing Tokyo DisneySea’s eight themed ports.
Passengers will also find a range of special decorations inside the train designed to extend the celebratory atmosphere beyond the exterior artwork.
Custom headrest covers will be installed throughout most passenger cars, while commemorative table stickers will add additional anniversary-themed details to the interiors.
The Green Car, Car No. 7, and the multi-purpose room will not receive the special headrest cover treatment.
In addition to the visual changes, the onboard melody will be replaced with Come Join the Jubilee, the official theme song of the anniversary event.
Special commemorative locations are also planned at selected stations along part of the operating route, allowing travelers to participate in the anniversary celebrations while the train is in service.
Further information regarding these temporary celebration areas is expected to be announced through Tokyo Disney Resort’s official channels once plans are finalized.
The Sparkling Dreams Shinkansen is scheduled to begin service on June 19 and is expected to remain in operation until approximately March 2027.
The specially decorated train will primarily be assigned to Hikari and Kodama services operating on the Tokaido Shinkansen route.
Its inaugural run is currently planned as Hikari No. 632, departing Nagoya Station at 6:45 a.m. and traveling to Tokyo Station on the first day of operation.
This marks the second major collaboration between JR Central and Oriental Land involving a Disney-themed Shinkansen.
The companies previously introduced the Wonderful Dreams Shinkansen in 2025 as a similar promotional project.
While the earlier train operated for roughly seven months, the new Sparkling Dreams Shinkansen is expected to remain in service for approximately nine months, making it a longer-running collaboration than its predecessor.
