Publisher PARCO GAMES and developer RexLabo have announced that the atmospheric science-fiction exploration game, Nova Antarctica, is officially set to launch for PC via Steam on January 29.

The game transports players to the year 2900, a time when the Earth has been ravaged by a series of global disasters.

The planet suffers from new viruses, severe food shortages, extreme weather, and ceaseless international conflicts.

Antarctica, once the Earth’s final untouched frontier, now cradles this desolate world.

The central mystery of the story is sparked by a mysterious signal emanating from the South Pole, which may be a final beacon of hope or a harbinger of something far darker.

RexLabo game director and creator m.Hayashi commented on the game’s origins, stating, “Nova Antarctica began as a question: what happens to humanity when the world goes quiet?”

He noted his fascination with the continent and how imagining its distant future opened unexpected creative doors for the team.

Hayashi hopes the game will allow players to discover stories that are personal, fragile, and unforgettable.

Nova Antarctica follows the journey of a lone child drawn south by the signal, searching both for its source and for connection and meaning in a place where the environment itself seems to reflect the memory of human mistakes.

Gameplay combines core survival mechanics, crafting, and exploration as players brave the world’s unforgiving landscape.

Players will also have the ability to befriend wildlife companions, a necessary aid in uncovering the secrets hidden beneath the ice.

The far-future setting is a core component of the experience.
