International champion Red Desire is the next horse girl to join Umamusume

Cygames has officially announced the latest addition to their popular horse girl racing sim game, Umamusume.
“Red Desire” was revealed on Sunday, the 19th of October, and will be voiced by the actress Hitomi Sekine.

The official character page on the Umamusume Pretty Derby portal site has also been updated with her character art and a detailed profile.

According to her new biography, Red Desire is described as a “(self-proclaimed) Umamusume who bears the destiny of reaching a ‘distant otherworld’ and being revered as a saint.”

The new character is based on the real-life racehorse Red Desire, a mare born in 2006 who was known for actively competing in international races.
During her career, her most significant win was the 2009 Shuka Sho (GI).

That same year, she famously battled her rival, Buena Vista, in all three legs of the Japanese Triple Tiara for fillies.

After placing second to Buena Vista in both the Oka Sho (Japanese 1000 Guineas) and the Yushun Himba (Japanese Oaks), Red Desire achieved her revenge in the final race, the Shuka Sho, to capture the GI title.
The following year, she traveled to Dubai and won the Maktoum Challenge Round 3, becoming the first-ever Japanese-trained horse to win a graded stakes race on an all-weather track.
She also competed in the Dubai World Cup and the American Breeders’ Cup before her retirement in 2011.
Her extensive racing history gives her a number of strong connections to existing characters in the Umamusume game.
Her father is the Umamusume character Manhattan Cafe.

Her primary rival is Buena Vista, and she also famously competed against Vodka in the 2009 Japan Cup (placing 3rd to Vodka’s 1st) and traveled to Dubai with her.

Fans are already highly anticipating how these famous rivalries and relationships will be portrayed in the game’s story.
A specific release date for when Red Desire will be implemented in the game has not yet been announced.
