Initial D 30th Anniversary Exhibition Now Open at Kanda Myojin Shrine

Initial D Exhibition 1

Initial D, the landmark street racing manga, is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a special exhibition at the Kanda Myojin Shrine Museum.

The event, titled “From the Past to the Future – Crossroads of History,” is now open and bridges the gap between the original series and its sequel, MF Ghost.

The exhibition offers a unique look at the evolution of vehicle culture in Japan, contrasting original drawings from the manga with historical ukiyo-e prints from the shrine’s own collection.

Event Overview

Initial D Exhibition 2

The exhibition features a unique curation of art. Visitors can see numerous original drawings from “Initial D” by Shigeno Shuichi, alongside replica original drawings from its sequel, “MF Ghost.”

These modern works are displayed next to historical materials from the Kanda Myojin Shrine Museum collection, including ukiyo-e prints from the Edo and Meiji periods by artists like Utagawa Hiroshige I and Keisai Eisen.

These historical pieces depict the history of Japanese logistics and transportation, showing everything from early Nihonbashi fish markets to horse-drawn railroad carriages, showcasing the growth of vehicle culture in Japan.

Merchandise

Original merchandise for the event is on sale at the EDOCCO SHOP IKIIKI, located on the first floor of the Cultural Exchange Center.

The merchandise sales area is separate from the museum exhibition and is free to enter.

Sales will run for the same duration as the exhibition, from October 25th to November 24th, 2025.

Purchase Bonus

A special “traffic safety collaboration sticker” is being distributed during the event.

This sticker is not available for purchase. It is given only to individuals who receive a “traffic safety” prayer (Gokitō) or a car purification ceremony at Kanda Myojin Shrine during the exhibition period.

Initial D Exhibition 3

Prayers are accepted from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM (with an initial offering starting at 10,000 yen) and are not available by advance reservation.

The collaboration stickers are limited in quantity and distribution will end once supplies are gone.

This bonus is only available for individual prayers, not for corporations.
