Hololive’s Aki Rosenthal finally reaches 1 million subscribers

Hololive Production has announced that Aki Rosenthal, a prominent member of Hololive’s first generation of VTubers, now has over 1 million subscribers on her official YouTube channel.
This achievement marks a milestone moment not only for Aki Rosenthal, but also for the Hololive agency as a whole.

With her subscriber count reaching 1 million, all Japanese members of Hololive up to the sixth generation of VTubers within the agency have now achieved the remarkable feat of gaining 1 million subscribers on their respective YouTube channels.
Aki Rosenthal, known for her energetic personality, multilingual streams (primarily in Japanese and English), and engaging content, joined Hololive Production as part of its initial wave of VTubers.

Over the years, she has cultivated a dedicated fanbase through her diverse streams, which include gaming, singing, chatting, and interactive fan events.
Her warm and approachable demeanor has also made her a much loved figure within the VTuber community.
In anticipation of reaching the 1 million subscriber mark, Aki Rosenthal held a special “1 million subscribers endurance stream” on her YouTube channel on Sunday, May 11th, 2025

In a surprising turn of events, she managed to surpass the coveted milestone before the stream even began.
At the start of the broadcast, an audibly surprised Aki exclaimed, “I can’t believe we’re already at 1 million subscribers!”
The live chat during the stream was immediately filled with celebratory messages from her viewers, including enthusiastic congratulations and humorous acknowledgments of her having already reached the goal before the endurance stream officially started.

Following the conclusion of her milestone stream, Aki Rosenthal took to her personal social media account to express her heartfelt gratitude.
In a post, she shared her emotional response, stating:
“After the stream ended, I started crying. Once again, thank you for 1 million subscribers! I’d like to continue to do lots of fun with you all, so please come and see me anytime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
This success is part of the immense growth and widespread popularity that Hololive Production has experienced in recent years.
The phenomenon of VTubers and agencies like Hololive has seen a significant surge in popularity globally over the past few years.
These virtual entertainers, often utilizing 2D or 3D avatars, have amassed substantial followings on platforms like YouTube and Twitch, engaging with audiences through live streams and recorded content.

The popularity of VTubers has translated into various commercial opportunities, including the release of official merchandise, digital content, and even physical figures.
This doesn’t just apply to Hololive, as even smaller VTubers such as Million Production’s Konomi Amakami are popular enough to release merchandise such as scale figures.
The Hololive agency, while celebrating this collective milestone, has also been navigating recent changes within its roster.

Popular English-speaking VTubers like Gawr Gura and Japanese VTuber Murasaki Shion have recently graduated from Hololive, meaning that they no longer work with the agency.
These departures mark a significant shift within the Hololive landscape but despite these changes, the continued success of long-standing members like Aki Rosenthal and the achievement of 1 million subscribers across the early generations of Hololive JP demonstrate the enduring strength and dedicated fanbase of the agency.
