Gundam’s New Camping Gear Collab Turns the RX-78-2’s Shield Into a Sleeping Bag

Bandai’s Gundam-themed apparel shop STRICT-G has revealed a brand new collaboration with the premium Japanese outdoor brand NANGA.
The “RX-78-2 Gundam Shield Sleeping Bag” will provide fans with a cozy way to showcase their love for the classic anime series while enjoying the great outdoors.

The Gundam franchise began in 1979 with an anime series that introduced the world to the iconic mecha piloted by Amuro Ray.

The original Mobile Suit Gundam focused on a gritty, realistic portrayal of conflict in space, establishing a massive legacy that continues to influence modern animation.
NANGA is a highly respected manufacturer established in 1941, celebrated for its premium down products and extensive expertise in feather processing.

This unique camping accessory is shaped and colored to faithfully resemble the famous shield carried by the Earth Federation’s heroic mobile suit, the RX-78-2 Gundam.
The shell and lining are constructed from 100% nylon, resulting in a fabric that is highly water-resistant while remaining incredibly thin and lightweight.

Inside the sleeping bag, there are 350 grams of premium insulation consisting of 80% down and 20% feathers.
These materials have been carefully washed and processed by Kawada Feather to ensure maximum warmth and a comfortable night of sleep across three different seasons.

A single quilt construction method sews the inner and outer layers directly together, keeping the overall weight to an absolute minimum.
An internal draft tube is installed just behind the zipper to prevent cold air from entering and compromising the internal temperature.

The zipper itself incorporates a special anti-snag mechanism equipped with glow-in-the-dark materials for effortless operation in the dark.
This regular-sized model is specifically designed to comfortably accommodate individuals between 166 and 178 centimeters in height.

The RX-78-2 Gundam Shield Sleeping Bag is available for a price of 68,200 yen (approx. $450 USD / £355 GBP).

Online reservations for the sleeping bag opened on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
Pre-orders will be accepted through the official Premium Bandai online store until Sunday, March 29, 2026, with deliveries planned for November 2026.

A general retail release for the sleeping bag will follow later in the year, starting on Saturday, October 31, 2026.
Fans can purchase the sleeping bag in person at STRICT-G physical store locations across Japan, including the Odaiba and Solamachi branches in Tokyo.
