Gundam SEED’s Exclusive Sword Calamity Gundam Gunpla Kit Returns for Limited-Time US Re-Release

The “FULL MECHANICS 1/100 SWORD CALAMITY GUNDAM” joins a large selection of exclusive Gunpla kits, figures and other collectibles returning for Premium Bandai Week 2026, which also offers a temporary reduction to the usual free-shipping threshold.

The GAT-X133 Sword Calamity is a modified version of the Earth Alliance’s Calamity Gundam, developed to specialize in close-range combat.
The original Calamity was built around heavy long-range firepower, but Sword Calamity replaces much of that equipment with powerful melee weapons inspired by the Sword Striker system used by the Strike Gundam.

Three Sword Calamity units were produced, including the orange-colored machine operated by Earth Alliance ace Edward Harrelson, a pilot nicknamed “Ed the Ripper” for his exceptional swordsmanship.
Bandai originally released the exclusive Full Mechanics kit in May 2024, recreating the heavily modified Gundam at 1/100 scale with newly molded armor and an extensive selection of close-combat weapons.
Image by Charlotte DavisBased on the existing “FULL MECHANICS 1/100 CALAMITY GUNDAM,” the model replaces its familiar blue and green coloring with striking orange, white, and black armor, alongside newly designed shoulder, wrist, shin, and backpack components.

The redesigned wrists feature improved color separation, and the kit retains the detailed mechanical construction and articulation of Bandai’s original Full Mechanics Calamity Gundam.

Its most impressive equipment is the pair of Schwert Gewehr anti-ship swords, which are mounted on articulated backpack supports that allow each weapon to be adjusted into different positions.
Both swords feature translucent green beam effects that can be attached to their blades and grips, recreating the enormous energy weapons used by Sword Calamity during close-range combat.

The swords can also be combined into a larger weapon, with a specially designed beam effect included to reproduce the appearance of the joined blades.

Another major addition is the pair of Panzer Eisen rocket anchors mounted on the Gundam’s forearms, which feature extendable claws designed to grapple enemies during battle.

The anchors can be displayed in their launched positions using the included lead wires and dedicated connection parts, allowing builders to recreate attacks with the claws extending away from the Mobile Suit.

Sword Calamity also carries two Midas Messer beam boomerangs on its shoulders, which can be removed and fitted with translucent effect parts to recreate their energy blades.
Two Action Base 6 stands are included to support the boomerangs and rocket anchors during attack displays, providing additional options for posing the Gundam with its equipment deployed.

The final weapons are a pair of Armor Schneider combat knives stored in the lower legs, with opening shin armor that allows the blades to be removed and held in the Gundam’s hands.

A dedicated sheet of marking stickers is also provided, including Edward Harrelson’s personal emblem and additional details designed for the Sword Calamity Gundam.

Another variation of the original Calamity Gundam has also recently returned to the US, with the exclusive “FULL MECHANICS 1/100 AILE CALAMITY GUNDAM” also reopening for pre-orders during Premium Bandai Week.

Introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED ECLIPSE, Aile Calamity takes a different approach to the original machine by incorporating large atmospheric flight units, additional firepower, and the versatile Adler weapon system.

Gundam SEED MSV itself is also making a comeback, with Bandai recently announcing “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM MSV,” a new project expanding the Cosmic Era with additional Mobile Suit variations based on Gundam SEED FREEDOM and the upcoming Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO.

The new series is scheduled to begin appearing in Monthly Hobby Japan later this month, with TAMASHII NATIONS already developing related collectibles for future release.

Premium Bandai Week 2026 runs from October 8 at 10:00 AM EDT until October 13 at 11:59 PM EDT, with registered Premium Bandai US members able to qualify for free shipping on eligible orders of $50 or more instead of the usual $100 minimum when using the no-signature-required shipping option.

Pre-orders for the “FULL MECHANICS 1/100 SWORD CALAMITY GUNDAM” reopened through Premium Bandai US on October 8, with the exclusive kit priced at $69 and the order window scheduled to close on October 14 at 2:59 AM EDT, leaving less than two days for builders to secure their orders.
