Gundam GQuuuuuuX’s GFreD is Banpresto’s next “Genkai Toppa” prize figure

BANDAI SPIRITS is expanding its “Genkai Toppa” series with another new Gundam figure.
The company has confirmed that the next figure to join the line-up will be the GFreD, which features in the currently airing hit anime series “Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX”.

“Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX” is the latest anime series in the long running Mobile Suit Gundam franchise.
Gundam GQuuuuuuX introduces a new storyline set in an alternate version of the series Universal Century setting, where high school student Amate Yuzuriha becomes involved in illegal mobile suit dueling.

The GFreD is a mobile suit from the series that first appears in episode eight, being particularly memorable due to its unique design which appears to take inspiration from another popular mecha series.

“Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX” is produced in part by Khara, a studio helmed by the creators of the Evangelion series.
Fans had therefore been eagerly waiting to see if any Evangelion references would surface in the new Gundam series.

The GFreD, with its unique head shape and distinctive color scheme, is a clear reference to Evangelion Unit-01 and its appearance has delighted fans of both anime franchises.

The “Genkai Toppa” series from Banpresto is a relatively new and ambitious addition to the prize figure market.
Previously announced figures, such as the Gundam Sieg Axe and Red Gundam have already established Banpresto’s desire to provide visually striking large scale figures as part of this range.

Each “Genkai Toppa” figure will stand approximately 28 centimeters (around 11 inches) tall.
The GFreD figure is confirmed to be released in Japan in July, 2025, where it will be available as a crane game prize at amusement centers/arcades.
For fans located outside of Japan, “Genkai Toppa” figures should become available through reputable hobby goods retailers approximately 1-2 months after their initial Japanese arcade debut, due to how BANDAI distributes figures internationally.
