Gundam Base to get 3 exclusive special color Gunpla kits starting this June
BANDAI SPIRITS is set to release a spectacular array of special colored Gunpla models exclusive to their Gundam Base and Gundam Side-F stores.
These limited-edition kits feature unique finishes, from metallic coatings to translucent effects, offering collectors and enthusiasts distinctive display pieces.
Among the highlights is a particularly dazzling “HG 1/144 Unicorn Gundam Unit 3 Phenex (Destroy Mode) GOLD & SILVER COATING SET”, which is priced at a premium 22,000 yen.
Both Gundam Base and Gundam Side-F are official Gunpla flagship stores that often carry exclusive variants and special releases not available through general retail channels, making them must-visit destinations for dedicated fans.
Gundam Base stores can be found in most major cities in Japan as well as several cities in China, South Korea and Taiwan.
Gundam Side-F is a Fukuoka based store and is also home to the RX-93ff ν Gundam, a life-sized Gundam statue based on the RX93 ν Gundam from the Char’s Counterattack movie.
The upcoming special releases are from a selection of popular Gundam series:
MGSD Gundam Base Limited Gundam Barbatos [Iron Blood Coating]
This kit features the popular Gundam Barbatos from Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans.
The “Iron Blood Coating” description refers to the heavy, metallic finish of the completed model.
The MGSD line combines the detailed engineering of Master Grade with the charming, compact proportions of Super Deformed figures, offering a unique blend of complexity and chibi proportions.
This MGSC kit will be priced at 7,150 yen (approx. $49.67 USD / £36.87 GBP) and will be available from June 2025.
ENTRY GRADE 1/144 ν Gundam (Axis Shock Image Color)
This Entry Grade kit features the iconic ν Gundam (Nu Gundam) from Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack.
The “Axis Shock Image Color” refers to the iconic moment at the climax of the film where Amuro Ray’s ν Gundam, aided by the wills of countless people, pushes the asteroid Axis away from Earth, manifesting a powerful psychic phenomenon known as the “Axis Shock”.
This special color variant is a visually striking and affordable collectible for fans of the Universal Century timeline.
This Entry Grade 1/144 kit will be priced at 1,540 yen (approx. $10.69 USD / £7.94 GBP) and will be available from July 2025.
HG 1/144 Gundam Base Limited Unicorn Gundam Unit 3 Phenex (Destroy Mode) GOLD & SILVER COATING SET
This premium set features the Unicorn Gundam Unit 3 Phenex, a golden Mobile Suit from the Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn series, renowned for its dazzling Psycho-Frame.
The set includes a gold-plated version, reflecting its appearance in the OVA Mobile Suit Gundam UC One of Seventy Two, and a silver-plated version, inspired by its appearance in Gundam Reconguista in G FROM THE PAST TO THE FUTURE.
This HG 1/144 kit set will be priced at 22,000 yen (approx. $152.72 USD / £113.46 GBP) and will be available from September 2025.
The high price point is indicative of the extensive gold and silver coatings, which provide a luxurious, highly reflective finish, making a stunning centerpiece for any collection.
