Fourth Jujutsu Kaisen stage play revisits Gojo and Geto’s origins

A new stage play based on the hit anime series Jujutsu Kaisen has been announced.
The official website for the stage play adaptations of Gege Akutami’s “Jujutsu Kaisen” manga announced on Monday a brand new production titled “Butai Jujutsu Kaisen -Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu-” (Stage Jujutsu Kaisen -Hidden Inventory / Premature Death-).
This new play will bring the poignant backstory of Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto to the stage in Tokyo during August and in Osaka throughout September.
The website also unveiled a teaser visual for the upcoming production, showing Gojo and Geto.

Excitingly for fans of the previous “Jujutsu Kaisen” stage plays, Ryōsuke Miura and Rei Fujita are both confirmed to be reprising their critically acclaimed roles as the powerful Satoru Gojo and his former best friend, Suguru Geto, respectively.
The creative team behind the previous successful adaptations will also be returning, with Kensaku Kobayashi once again taking on the directorial duties and Kōhei Kiyasu penning the script.
This new stage play will focus on the “Hidden Inventory / Premature Death” (“Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu”) arc, a pivotal storyline that explores the student days of Gojo and Geto at Jujutsu High, depicting their strong bond and the events that ultimately led to their diverging paths.

This arc is currently gaining renewed attention, as a compilation film from the second season of the “Jujutsu Kaisen” television anime is set to open in Japan on May 30th.
The “Hidden Inventory / Premature Death” arc was a key part of the anime’s second season, which premiered in July 2023 and aired continuously for half a year, also adapting the intense “Shibuya Incident” arc.
This new stage play marks the fourth installment in the “Jujutsu Kaisen” stage play series.

The first play ran in the summer of 2022, followed by a second adaptation covering the “Kyoto Goodwill Event Arc” and “The Origin of Obedience Arc” in late 2023 and early 2024.

The third stage play adapted the “Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School” prequel manga, running from December 2024 to January of this year.

With the anime currently gearing up for a sequel adapting the manga’s “Culling Game” arc, and the manga having concluded its successful run in Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2024, the “Jujutsu Kaisen” franchise continues to captivate audiences across various media.
This new stage play promises to offer a fresh way to experience the impactful “Hidden Inventory / Premature Death” arc.
