Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance Arrives on Switch 2

Nintendo has officially added Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance to the growing library of retro titles available for Nintendo Switch Online members.
The game is now available via the Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics application for the Switch 2 console.

The tactical role-playing game, which debuted on the original GameCube system, became immediately available on January 8, 2026, marking a significant addition for subscribers to the expanded Nintendo Switch Online service.
This release makes a highly sought-after title accessible to a new generation of players through the retro-gaming platform.

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance is set in the continent of Tellius, a world engulfed in war.
The story focuses on the conflict and deep-seated mistrust between the human populace, known as the beorc, and the shape-shifting races referred to as the laguz.

A surprise invasion ignites a worldwide conflict, during which a sinister force emerges from the shadows, actively working to pit the two factions against one another.
Standing between Tellius and complete madness is Ike, a young mercenary who leads a small but capable band of soldiers-for-hire.

The game is celebrated for its deep strategic gameplay, challenging players to master strategy, steel, and sorcery across 3-D battlefields to guide Ike and his forces to victory and restore peace to the seven kingdoms.
Players command a diverse army that includes both classic unit types and newer additions such as the powerful, shape-shifting laguz and high-mobility spear-wielding wyvern riders.

Units can also be customized with various combat skills, including abilities like Deadeye.
A core mechanic of the series is retained, demanding careful guidance of every soldier: if units fall in battle, they are permanently gone.

A Japanese trailer for the title was released concurrently with the announcement:
