Final Fantasy VII Revelation Set to Conclude the Remake Trilogy in 2027
Square Enix has officially unveiled Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and concluding installment in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy.
The game will continue the story established in Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, bringing the reimagined saga to its long-awaited conclusion.
The narrative begins as a catastrophic crisis engulfs the planet, with a massive meteor looming overhead, destructive planetary guardians wreaking havoc across the world, and widespread conflict spreading across multiple regions.
As Sephiroth moves ever closer to achieving godlike power, Cloud Strife and his allies board the airship Highwind and embark on a final mission that will determine the fate of the planet.
Described as the largest and most ambitious entry in the trilogy, the game expands exploration, combat, and party management beyond anything seen in the previous releases.
Players will be able to traverse a fully connected open world using the iconic Highwind airship, freely flying across the planet and descending to the surface by parachute without loading interruptions between aerial and ground travel.
The adventure will revisit familiar locations while also introducing entirely new regions to explore.
One of these new areas is the Mideel Region, a tropical island environment dominated by dense rainforest vegetation and humid conditions.
Another newly accessible destination is the Wutai Region, home to descendants of ninja clans and known for its distinctive architecture featuring red-painted wooden structures and traditional tiled rooftops.
Combat continues the remake series’ blend of real-time action and command-based strategy, allowing players to switch seamlessly between party members while issuing tactical commands and executing powerful cooperative attacks.
The roster of playable characters has been expanded further, adding new strategic possibilities through each character’s unique abilities and fighting style.
Vincent Valentine joins the playable cast as a highly skilled marksman whose rapid firearm attacks and monstrous transformations can inflict devastating damage across the battlefield.
Cid Highwind also becomes fully playable, bringing his expertise as the captain of the Highwind and utilizing powerful lance techniques that excel at both single-target assaults and wide-area attacks.
A new gameplay mechanic known as Fits introduces outfit-based customization that alters combat styles and unlocks exclusive abilities.
Different outfits provide access to unique movesets while encouraging players to develop specialized character builds.
Examples include a Warrior-style outfit focused on aggressive offensive combat and a Black Mage-style outfit centered on destructive magical attacks.
Players can further refine their strategies by combining these outfits with weapons and materia configurations to prepare for increasingly powerful opponents.
Among the major threats featured in the game are the Weapons, colossal entities awakened by the planet itself in response to Meteor.
Although created to defend the world, these immense guardians cause widespread destruction and ultimately become enemies that Cloud and his companions must confront.
The Final Fantasy VII Remake project serves as a modern reinterpretation of the original 1997 role-playing game, rebuilding its story across three separate titles using contemporary technology and expanded storytelling.
The series follows former SOLDIER operative Cloud Strife, whose involvement with the anti-Shinra organization Avalanche draws him into a conflict that will ultimately determine the future of the planet.
