“EVA Kabuki” to debut at Evangelion 30th anniversary festival

Full details have been announced for the first-ever official festival for the iconic Evangelion franchise.
The new large-scale event, “EVANGELION:30+; 30th ANNIVERSARY OF EVANGELION,” is being billed as the grand finale of the year-long celebration of the 30th anniversary of the original 1995 TV series.

The massive, three-day festival will be split into two main areas.
The first is the “EVA EXTRA 30,” an exhibition and interactive area.

This will feature a central tower with six giant LED screens, a display of original production materials like animation cels and keyframes, a “Virtual Camera Studio” where visitors can experience the technology used to create the final film’s battle scenes, and an “Anniversary Park” where the original TV series will be shown on old-fashioned CRT televisions.

The second area is the “STAGE AREA,” which will host a variety of live stage performances each day.

The most surprising of these is the world premiere of an “Eva Kabuki” performance, a collaboration between the series’ creator, Studio Khara, and the legendary, traditional kabuki theater company, Shochiku.

Other stage events will include an opening ceremony with the original voice cast, a special live concert from the famous theme song singer Yoko Takahashi, a performance by the “EVANGELION WIND SYMPHONY,” a fashion runway show, and the daily screening of a brand-new, world premiere “Special Video.”

The festival will also feature a variety of sponsor booths, a store selling exclusive 30th-anniversary merchandise, and a “Fans Market” where pre-approved creators can sell their own, original works.

This new festival is the culmination of a number of other 30th-anniversary projects, including a “Monthly Eva Movie Fest” that is re-screening all of the theatrical films, and a traveling art exhibition dedicated to the character Kaworu Nagisa.

Tickets for the event are being sold in a variety of configurations, including separate tickets for each of the two main areas and a combined “set ticket.”
The “EVANGELION:30+; 30th ANNIVERSARY OF EVANGELION” festival will be held at the Yokohama Arena in Kanagawa Prefecture.

The three-day event is scheduled to run from Saturday, the 21st of February, to Monday, the 23rd of February, 2026.
The first lottery pre-sale for tickets is scheduled to begin next Saturday, the 4th of October, at 10:00 AM Japan Standard Time.
