Duolingo has revealed more details about the opening of “DUOMART,” its first-ever pop-up store in Japan.

Scheduled to open in Shibuya on Thursday, December 18, 2025, the store is uniquely modeled after a Japanese convenience store (konbini).

The concept draws a parallel between the “24 hours a day, 365 days a year” availability of Japanese convenience stores and the Duolingo app itself.

By designing the store as a konbini, Duolingo aims to symbolize that it is “always by your side,” encouraging users to remember their daily lessons even during the busy holiday season.

The store will feature merchandise centered around the app’s popular cast, including the iconic green owl Duo, the purple-haired Lily, and the sarcastic chess instructor Oscar.
