Designer Hatsune Miku “art chairs” will set you back almost $4000 each

High-end wooden furniture manufacturer, Conde House, has released a limited-edition “Hatsune Miku Art Chair” in collaboration with the “ART OF MIKU” contemporary art exhibition.
Conde House is a company based in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, a region famous for its furniture craftsmanship, and has been producing premium wooden furniture since 1968.

This new project, described as “sit-able art,” fuses the company’s award-winning design with original artwork of the world-famous virtual singer, Hatsune Miku, from three different contemporary artists.

The base for the product is the “Fran Living Easy Chair,” a piece made from Hokkaido Tamo wood that has won a Wood Design Award for its refined style.
The chair’s large backrest serves as a canvas for one of three different art pieces, which are printed on a high-tech “Ultrasuede” fabric from Toray.

The production of the chair is limited to only 100 units in total across all three designs.
Each chair comes with an artist’s autographed plate, which is made from a bioplastic material using recycled scallop shells from Hokkaido, and a matching art-print cushion.

In addition to the chairs, limited-edition, signed art prints of the three artworks are also being sold separately.
