The long-dormant turn-based RPG, Cross Reverie, has officially resurfaced, ending a nearly nine-year silence since its initial reveal.

Developer Sinxsoft, a studio based in Montreal, has now confirmed the game is scheduled for a PC release sometime in 2026.

This unexpected return was paired with the launch of an official Steam page and a short trailer that revealed a playable demo is slated to arrive in February.

A console release is also reportedly planned to follow the initial PC launch.

The last the public heard of Cross Reverie was its canceled Kickstarter campaign, which dates back to July 2015.

This lengthy hiatus has only fueled anticipation for the title, which promises to bring a fresh experience to the genre.

The nine-year gap between its initial public announcement and its current re-emergence makes the 2026 release a highly anticipated event for fans of classic Japanese RPG-style games.

Cross Reverie draws inspiration from the genre’s greatest Japanese RPG titles.

The game aims to provide a unique experience centered around deep character development, challenging tactical battles, and high replay value.

Its core gameplay loop includes top-down exploration of field maps and dungeons, reminiscent of classic genre entries.

The narrative is set on the island of Talesford, a place steeped in myths and legends.

This location is the purported home of the mystical ancients and a powerful, divine being known as The Dreamer.

Every 100 years, the island hosts an ancient and important ritual known as The Trial of the Ancients.

During this trial, exceptional contestants are summoned from each of Xylera’s four nations to test their mettle.

The ultimate prize is gaining The Dreamer’s favor, which guarantees the fulfillment of the victor’s one wish.

The story takes a dark turn as the combatants find that this year’s trial has become the Trial of Nightmare.

As the eight hopefuls risk everything, their worst fears manifest when an ominous entity, known only as The Shadow, takes control and fundamentally alters the rules of the competition.

The game features a main story revolving around these eight characters, offering multiple replays and various ending possibilities.

Combat employs a strategical turn-based battle system complete with combination attacks, elemental weakness exploitation, finishers, and more.

Players can customize their experience through unique character abilities, weapon skills, and stigma customization, allowing for varied playstyles.
