Claire Redfield’s Nightmare Continues in Newly Announced Resident Evil Veronica Remake
Capcom has officially revealed Resident Evil Veronica, a modern remake of the classic survival horror title Resident Evil Code: Veronica.
The announcement was made during Summer Game Fest 2026, where the publisher confirmed that the project is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
The game revisits one of the most celebrated entries in the Resident Evil franchise and places Claire Redfield back at the center of the story.
Players will once again find themselves trapped in the terrifying events surrounding Rockfort Island, a remote location overrun by zombies and other horrors.
The narrative follows Claire’s desperate struggle to survive and escape an environment consumed by fear, chaos, and madness.
Development is being handled using Capcom’s proprietary RE ENGINE technology, the same framework that has powered several recent entries and remakes within the series.
According to the company, the remake will feature updated gameplay systems designed to align with modern expectations while preserving the core survival horror experience that made the original game memorable.
The visual presentation is also being rebuilt with a stronger emphasis on realism, aiming to create a more immersive and unsettling atmosphere throughout the adventure.
Capcom stated that these enhancements are intended to elevate the survival horror formula and deliver a more intense experience for both returning fans and newcomers.
Alongside the announcement, the publisher released a debut trailer and a selection of initial screenshots offering a first glimpse at the remake’s updated visuals and environments.
Resident Evil Veronica is currently scheduled to launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through Steam, although pricing has not yet been announced.
