The Chōfu City Fireworks Festival is one of Tokyo’s largest and most celebrated annual fireworks displays.

This spectacular event takes place on the banks of the Tama River in the city of Chōfu, in West Tokyo.

It is famous for its unique and dynamic presentation of fireworks.

The festival’s signature feature is the “hanabillusion,” a dazzling show that synchronizes around 10,000 fireworks with music.

This creates a cinematic and immersive experience for the hundreds of thousands of spectators who attend.

People begin to gather on the riverbanks in the afternoon to secure a good viewing spot for the evening show.

Many attendees dress in traditional yukata, adding to the wonderful and festive summer atmosphere.

Food and drink stalls are also typically set up in the area, making it a full evening of entertainment.

- The viewing areas are accessible via a walk from several stations on the Keio Line.

  - Keio-tamagawa Station is about a 10-minute walk.
  - Fuda Station is about a 20-minute walk.
  - Chōfu Station is about a 30-minute walk.
- Congestion Warning
  - The train stations and surrounding areas become extremely congested immediately before and after the event.
  - Expect long waits to board a train when leaving.
