Burger King Japan’s new burgers are all beef, no bun

Burger King Japan has announced a new, highly unusual, and limited-time menu that deconstructs the hamburger, allowing customers to enjoy its signature, flame-grilled, 100% beef patty on its own.

The new product line features three different, bunless options.

The first, and simplest, is the “On the Beef.”

On the Beef 3

This is a single, flame-grilled beef patty, seasoned only with salt and pepper.

The second is the “Sauce on the Beef.”

On the Beef 4

This version also features a single patty, but customers can choose one of three different sauces to accompany it: a spicy sauce, a teriyaki sauce, or a BBQ sauce.

The third, and most unique, new item is the “Rice on the Beef.”

On the Beef 5

This version pairs the flame-grilled beef patty with a special “rice patty” that was co-developed with Hachidaime Gihei, a historic and prestigious rice merchant from Kyoto.

On the Beef 2

The rice patty is made from a special blend of white rice and “Kin no Ibuki” brown rice, and it is designed to perfectly complement the flavor of the beef.

All three of the new menu items also have the option to be doubled, with a second beef patty added for an additional fee.

This new menu offers a unique way for customers to directly enjoy the smoky and juicy flavor of the chain’s signature, flame-grilled beef.

The full lineup is as follows:

On the Beef 1
  • On the Beef (Salt & Pepper): ¥350
  • Sauce on the Beef (Spicy, Teriyaki, or BBQ): ¥450
  • Rice on the Beef: ¥450

The new, limited-time menu is scheduled to be launched at Burger King locations across Japan from Friday, the 26th of September and it will be available for two weeks, until the 9th of October, 2025.
