Takara Tomy Arts, a Japanese toy manufacturer, is set to release a new interactive plush toy based on the Pokémon Magikarp.

The plush will be the latest addition to the “Pyokorin” series of interactive plushies known for their battery-free operation.

Magikarp is one of the most iconic and recognizable Pokémon from the immensely popular “Pokémon” franchise, which began in 1996 with the release of “Pokémon Red” and “Green” for the Game Boy.

Known primarily as a seemingly weak and often ridiculed Water-type Pokémon that primarily uses the ineffective “Splash” attack, Magikarp is famous for its eventual evolution into the formidable and powerful Gyarados.

Despite its initial perceived uselessness, Magikarp’s journey of perseverance and its dramatic transformation have made it a beloved and memorable character among fans worldwide.

Its simple, fish-like design and vibrant orange color have contributed to its widespread appeal and often comedic portrayal in the anime and games.

The “Pyokorin” plush toy series, to which Magikarp now belongs, is characterized by its unique mechanical action achieved without the need for batteries.

This eco-friendly design element makes the toys simple to operate and appealing to parents seeking durable, low-maintenance toys.

The core interactive mechanism of the “Pyokorin” series involves a simple press, which triggers movement in the plush.

For the “Pokémon Pyokorin Magikarp,” the movement feature is activated by pressing the plush toy’s belly.

This action causes its tail fin to flap and move, mimicking Magikarp’s signature “Splash” attack.

The dimensions of the plush are 160 x 230 x 220mm (width x height x depth), making it a compact addition to any Pokémon collection or a suitable toy for children.

This release caters to the strong demand for Pokémon merchandise, particularly plush toys, which are consistently popular among fans of all ages.

Plushies are one of the most popular types of Pokémon merchandise, with a wide range available, ranging from sleeping plushies to life-size plushies.
