Bethesda Reveals Starfield PS5 Enhancements and Features

Bethesda Softworks and Bethesda Game Studios have officially detailed the PlayStation 5 specific features for Starfield, the open world space action RPG.

The game is scheduled for release on the PlayStation 5 on April 7, 2026, alongside a story expansion titled Terran Armada and the Free Lanes update.
On the PlayStation 5 Pro console, players can choose between a Pro Visual Mode targeting 4K resolution at 30 frames per second and a Pro Performance Mode targeting 60 frames per second.

Both of these high-end visual modes utilize PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution upscaling technology to maintain image quality.
The standard PlayStation 5 and the Pro model will both benefit from SSD optimization for faster loading and full support for PlayStation trophies.
The DualSense wireless controller will provide haptic feedback through adaptive triggers that simulate the physical resistance of various weapons and starship systems.

A dynamic light bar on the controller will change colors to reflect the player character’s health or the status of their ship, such as pulsing red during combat.
The DualSense touchpad allows for streamlined navigation, enabling players to switch points of view, open the galactic map, or access menus like inventory and skills with swipes and presses.
Immersion is further enhanced by the controller speaker, which broadcasts audio logs and starship intercom communications directly to the player.
