Berserk's Most Popular Official Guts Figure Returns with a Brutal New Redesign

One of Good Smile Company’s most popular Guts figures is making another return, this time with an official new redesign that pushes the iconic Berserker Armor into considerably more brutal territory.

The new “POP UP PARADE Guts [Berserker Armor] Bloody Paint Ver. L Size” revisits the oversized POP UP PARADE L interpretation of Guts that originally debuted in November 2022 before receiving additional rereleases in January and August 2024, giving the sculpt a fourth re-release, though this time with a considerably darker twist instead of just a straight re-release.

Berserk follows mercenary swordsman Guts through a dark fantasy world shaped by war, supernatural forces, and his relentless struggle against both physical and psychological trauma.

The Berserker Armor becomes one of his most important pieces of equipment later in the story, allowing him to push his body far beyond its normal limits by suppressing pain and drawing upon the rage and hatred buried within him.

Guts first demonstrates its terrifying potential during his confrontation with Grunbeld, where the armor allows him to continue fighting despite injuries that would normally leave him incapable of moving.

That strength comes at a considerable cost, as the armor removes the body’s natural restraints rather than healing its wearer, making Guts increasingly dangerous to both his enemies and himself.

The “POP UP PARADE Guts [Berserker Armor] Bloody Paint Ver. L Size” sees the return to the same approximately 28 cm sculpt inspired by the cover illustration of Berserk Volume 28, with Guts crouched over a rocky base while resting the enormous Dragonslayer across his shoulder.

POP UP PARADE L expands on Good Smile Company’s standard figure line with substantially larger sculpts, offering a more affordable alternative to many similarly sized scale figures.

For this updated release, Good Smile and Max Factory have transformed its appearance through extensive new paintwork representing Guts after the Berserker Armor has pushed him through an especially violent battle.

Blood now covers large sections of the black armor, accumulating across the chest, arms, legs, and helmet while contrasting heavily against the darker finish underneath.

The Dragonslayer receives the same treatment, with blood spread across the enormous blade to make the entire display look considerably harsher than the previous release.

That added effect also plays into one of the Berserker Armor’s defining ideas, as the amount of blood covering Guts makes it deliberately difficult to separate the damage inflicted on his enemies from the injuries he has suffered himself.

The underlying pose remains closely tied to Kentaro Miura’s Volume 28 artwork, preserving the hunched silhouette, animalistic helmet, and oversized sword that helped make the original POP UP PARADE L release such a memorable interpretation of the character.
