Bandai Unveils New and Updated Godzilla Tokyo S.O.S. Kiryu Kai Figure

Bandai has announced that pre-orders will soon begin for the latest addition to its S.H.MonsterArts Movie Graphic Plus collection, which will see the return of Kiryu Kai from Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S.
The highly detailed figure will expand the popular S.H.MonsterArts lineup by recreating the upgraded anti-G weapon in its repaired form following the events of Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla.

Kiryu Kai first appeared in the 2003 film Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. as the enhanced version of the anti-G mecha originally introduced in the previous movie.
Built using the skeletal remains of the original 1954 Godzilla, the machine was upgraded after its Absolute Zero Cannon was damaged during battle, replacing the weapon with a powerful Triple Maser Cannon while also receiving a Type 4 Anti-Beast Drilling Device mounted on its right arm.

The new figure appears to build upon the sculpt originally introduced with the 2014 S.H.MonsterArts release while refining the finish to accurately capture Kiryu Kai’s fully restored appearance from the film.
A newly developed paint application recreates the darker metallic silver finish seen during the movie’s nighttime battle scenes, giving the figure an appearance that closely matches its on-screen counterpart.

The chest section can be opened to reveal the concealed Triple Maser Cannon, while selected internal components have been produced using die-cast metal to provide additional weight and reinforce the machine’s mechanical feel.

Collectors can customize the display using a selection of interchangeable equipment, including a battle-damaged head featuring the scarred right eye, a replaceable back unit, an electromagnetic railgun and an alternate spiral claw for the right arm.

These accessories allow the figure to be displayed in either its Heavy Armament Type or High Mobility Type configuration, offering multiple display possibilities inspired by the film.
The release has also been designed to pair perfectly with the newly announced S.H.MonsterArts Godzilla (2003), allowing fans to recreate some of the movie’s most memorable battles.

As part of the Movie Graphic Plus series, the Kiryu Kai figure also includes a commemorative PET memorial art board featuring artwork from Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S., creating an attractive companion display alongside the figure itself.

Standing approximately 15.5 cm tall, the new figure combines premium sculpting, articulated engineering, and metallic finishes to deliver one of the most screen-accurate Kiryu Kai figures produced in the S.H.MonsterArts line to date.

The S.H.MonsterArts Kiryu Kai (Heavy Armament Type/High Mobility Type) Movie Graphic Plus action figure is priced at ¥19,800 (approx. $134 USD / £99 GBP), with pre-orders opening from July 1, 2026 through reputable hobby goods retailers such as HobbyLink Japan ahead of its scheduled January 2027 release.
