Bandai unleashes giant Gundam to launch new robot prize figure range

BANDAI SPIRITS has announced which Gundam will be the debut figure in their brand new Banpresto “Genkai Toppa” series of robot prize figures.

Unsurprisingly, it will be the GQuuuuuuX (Sieg Axe), the powerful mobile suit from the latest installment in the Gundam franchise “Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX”.

The “Genkai Toppa” series, a new line from Banpresto, a brand within BANDAI SPIRITS known for its high-quality prize figures, aims to push the boundaries of what is expected from robot figures offered as crane game prizes.

The series will focus on delivering impressively sized figures with significant visual impact.

This figure boasts a super-large size, standing at an impressive height of approximately 28 centimeters. This substantial scale provides the figure with an overwhelming presence, making it a standout collectible for fans.

Despite its significant size, BANDAI SPIRITS emphasizes that the “Genkai Toppa” figure maintains a commitment to delicate detailing and a beautiful overall form.

It will also feature the high quality sculpting and paintwork that Gundam figure collectors have come to expect from Banpresto products.

The release of the figure marks the beginning of the “Genkai Toppa” series, with BANDAI SPIRITS announcing plans to release subsequent figures in the line in the future.

Crane games, also known as UFO catchers or claw machines, are a popular form of amusement in Japan, often featuring exclusive prize figures that are not available through traditional retail channels.

Banpresto has long been a major provider of high-quality anime and manga-related prize figures for these machines, and the introduction of the “Genkai Toppa” series signifies a move towards even larger and more visually striking offerings in this market.

The “Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX Genkai Toppa GQuuuuuuX” figure will be available in crane game machines across Japan starting from Monday, May 27th, 2025.

If you’re not in Japan or don’t want to take your chances on a crane game, it will be available for pre-orders from many reputable hobby goods retailers.

Although crane game prizes are not intended to be available for sale via normal retail channels in Japan, Bandai do sell them via standard retail outlets outside of Japan and many second hand stores in Japan do stock crane game prizes.

It’s important to note that prices and shipping costs may vary between retailers, so it’s worth shopping around to get the best deal.
