Bandai Confirms Exclusive Re-Release for Rare Gundam 0083 Gunpla Set
Bandai has officially confirmed a re-release for an exclusive Gunpla set that features two memorable Earth Federation machines from Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory.
The “HGUC 1/144 GM Type C Standard Color & Modified Ball” includes one of each 1/144 scale model, recreating two comparatively grounded Federation designs from the period between the One Year War and the events surrounding Operation Stardust.
The GM Type C is a later development of the Federation’s mass-produced GM, with its more angular armor and revised equipment giving it a noticeably different appearance from the original RGM-79.
Its standard space-use colors replace the warmer ground-combat scheme seen on other versions of the GM Type C, using a predominantly white appearance with red sections and darker details across the body.
Bandai includes six different types of interchangeable hands with the kit, providing considerably more posing options than the basic weapon-holding hands supplied with many older HGUC releases.
Its weapon selection consists of a Hyper Bazooka, 90mm Machine Gun and Shield, allowing the GM Type C to be displayed with several of the conventional Earth Federation weapons associated with the period.
The second half of the set recreates the modified Ball seen in Mobile Suit Gundam 0083, giving the Federation’s familiar spherical support machine several changes over its earlier One Year War appearance.
New parts are used across areas including its sub-arms and attitude-control thrusters, helping reproduce the revised design rather than simply reusing a standard HGUC Ball unchanged.
Those additional thrusters are especially suited to the Ball’s role as a space-use mobile pod, providing visible maneuvering equipment around a machine whose compact body leaves little room for conventional mobile suit propulsion systems.
Bandai also includes a dedicated display stand for the Modified Ball, allowing it to be positioned in flight alongside the GM Type C without requiring a separate Action Base.
Putting the two machines together gives the set a strong Gundam 0083 identity, pairing a conventional Federation mass-production mobile suit with one of the updated support units operating during the same period.
The “HGUC 1/144 GM Type C Standard Color & Modified Ball,” priced at ¥2,530 (approx. $16 USD / £12 GBP), opened for Japanese pre-orders through Premium Bandai Japan on September 1 and is scheduled to ship in March 2027.
Premium Bandai US has not yet listed the re-release, although exclusive Gunpla frequently begin their US pre-orders shortly after the corresponding Japanese announcement, so there’s a good chance the set will appear there soon.
