Anime Music Legend Hiroyuki Sawano Announces Major Gundam Orchestra Concert for 2027
Hiroyuki Sawano will return to the world of Gundam in early 2027 with a brand-new concert celebrating the music from Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway, Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, and Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative.
The three productions form a connected chapter within the Universal Century timeline, with Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn and Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative exploring the aftermath of the Laplace Incident before Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway follows Hathaway Noa as he leads a resistance movement against the Earth Federation years later.
The “Hiroyuki Sawano × THE SOUND OF GUNDAM – Mobile Suit Gundam UC, NT & Hathaway Concert” will combine a full orchestra and live band while iconic scenes from all three productions are projected alongside the music.
A newly unveiled key visual has also been released ahead of the event.
Guest vocalists for the concert include mpi, SennaRin, Benjamin, mizuki and Laco, all of whom have previously collaborated with Sawano on numerous anime projects.
Sawano himself will perform on piano alongside an ensemble featuring Hiroshi Iimuro and Harutoshi Ito on guitar, Toshino Tanabe on bass, Makoto Fujisaki on drums, KOHTA YAMAMOTO on synthesizer, the Koichiro Muroya Strings, the Otohiko Fujita Horn Team and trumpeter Ryo Noda.
The concert will feature music from Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway, Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn and Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative, recreating many of the franchises’ most memorable moments through specially arranged orchestral performances.
Every ticket includes an exclusive eight-page commemorative concert pamphlet as an attendee gift.
Fans choosing the Limited Goods Reserved Seat will also receive an exclusive acrylic stand featuring the concert’s newly released key visual, with preview images of the bonus item set to be revealed at a later date.
Ticket prices are ¥16,500 (approx. $112 USD / £83 GBP) for the Limited Goods Reserved Seat, ¥14,000 (approx. $95 USD / £70 GBP) for a standard Reserved Seat and ¥13,000 (approx. $88 USD / £65 GBP) for a Rear Reserved Seat.
Ticket lottery applications are now open through both the Gundam Fan Club and the official concert website.
The Gundam Fan Club advance lottery will remain available until July 20, 2026, while the official website advance lottery will continue until July 29, 2026.
The concert will take place at Tokyo Garden Theater on February 27, 2027, with doors opening at 5:30 PM ahead of a 6:30 PM performance.
