AirAsia x SEGA/ATLUS sees Sonic and Persona aircraft take to the skies
AirAsia, ASEAN’s leading travel and lifestyle brand, today announced a collaboration with global gaming company SEGA Corporation and its group company Atlus Co., Ltd. to celebrate the companies’ iconic titles, Sonic the Hedgehog and Persona 5, through aircraft paintwork and in-flight experiences.
The collaboration is part of “The Colour Of Connection” campaign, implemented by AirAsia Brand Company (Abc.), the brand management arm of AirAsia.
The partnership will see the creation of two specially painted aircraft featuring Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends Tails, Knuckles, Shadow and Amy Rose, as well as Persona 5 characters Joker and Morgana.
Sonic and his friends will be featured on an AirAsia X (flight code: D7) Airbus A330 (registration: 9M-XXU), while the Persona 5 design will be featured on an AirAsia Malaysia (flight code: AK) Airbus A320 (registration: 9M-AFF).
If you’re planning on booking a flight specifically to enjoy the collaboration livery on either plane, note that the Persona 5 Airbus A320 aircraft will not be operating on routes to or from Japan.
The two aircraft will be deployed across AirAsia’s network, which includes more than 100 major cities in ASEAN and the Asia-Pacific region, including Bangkok, Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei, Shanghai and Sydney, bringing the appeal of the combination of gaming and travel to many customers and fans.
AirAsia will also be releasing limited edition merchandise featuring Sonic the Hedgehog and Persona 5 designs from Q1 2025.
The limited edition merchandise will be available on all AirAsia Malaysia and AirAsia X flights, as well as through the AirAsia official app and AirAsia Move (duty-free).
Replicas of both the Sonic and Persona aircraft, luggage tags and keychains are amongst the items that have been announced so far.
There are also plans for fans to be able to enjoy the collaboration merchandise at home by ordering online, with details for this service yet to be announced.
